It is possible to calculate the specific contribution of acoustic panels to the various BREEAM criteria to allow the BREEAM-assessors for the relevant BREEAM-criteria.
What is BREEAM?
Using standards developed by BRE, BREEAM is a third party assessment method for sustainability in the built environment and measures the environmental, social and economic sustainability performance of a development. BREEAM rated projects are sustainable environments that enhance the wellbeing of the people who live and work in them. BREEAM predominantly applies to commercial buildings. BREEAM sets benchmarks for standard categories of development (such as offices, retail developments, education buildings and healthcare buildings).
Additionally, BREEAM also measures several categories for sustainable value such as reducing the impact of construction materials which is where acoustic panelling becomes relevant. Also where offcuts from the panels may need to be reused and recycled can contribute.

BREEAM credits & acoustic panels
Torann Acoustics acknowledges the need for responsibility to our customers, suppliers and staff members in the quest for sustainable development and aim to improve the environmental impact from our actions.
In order to do this, BREEAM credits can be achieved Under Health and Wellbring (HEA05 - Acoustic performance). Each of these credits are weighted and HEA 05 has a rating of approximately 1%.
Our suppliers ensure that they purchase timber and sheet materials from recognized and certificated sustainable sources only. They ensure recycling of waste and the re-use of packaging materials.
